Meet Keryn

Keryn started Bishop’s Community Development Trust to support local champions seeking to drive change in their communities.

His experience in Crown/lottery funding agencies, and two years with the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust, gave him valuable insight into the community sector.

He sees tremendous opportunity for BCDT to equip people for success in their work in local communities.

As he says, “My work must have purpose, and I’m all about helping where I can.”

Sadly, injury curtailed Keryn’s promising start at representative rugby after playing for Wellington and the New Zealand under 21 team among others.

"They say you never retire from Rugby, you break down, this happened to me at the age of 22."

This led Keryn into youth work, where he devoted ten years to developing a youth organisation in Wellington and Auckland.

Keryn lives in Porirua with his wife and four kids.
